Why lift weights?
It’s a common misconception among women that lifting weights will make you look bulky. To these days you will see majority of ladies hit cardio rooms in the gym rather then weight areas.
But why? Well here is a thing… you walk into gym you look around the gym floor and you’ll see mostly big guys pushing and pulling weights with a serious and focused faces, so you instantly think “I don’t belong here” right? Wrong! Yes you do, and you have every right to be there and to train, as all the blokes there. Bit daunting, I agree.. but I will let you on a secret. Most of these guys are really nice to talk to. They are just very focused on their training… if you catch them between sets though :)
So what then? the next question that is probably surfacing now. I don’t have a clue where to start or how much to load or even what is the correct technique…
Well I hear you! And this is something that needs to be learned. Like anything else! If you want to go rock climbing, you need to know how to strap yourself and how to pull your ass up that wall! Same in the gym. If you don’t know what to do find someone who does! Be it an experience friend who has been training for a while (and their physique shows that they are doing it right) or a professional PT that will show you the ropes.
So hang on, why to lift weights?
Apart from many health benefits… what we really want is to change that flab to tone muscles! And that’s what we want ladies, do you? I certainly do.
And don’t forget more muscles you have, more energy will be used to burn that fat. That’s a great bonus.
